Final Year Project.

As part of a final year project for my MSc in Information Systems Management, I created the 'look and feel' of the web service directory that we developed for Galway branch of Saint Vincent de Paul. I meticulously planned every detail out the site's layout, and also created all the graphics on display. I delved into PHP, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS during the development period, as well as calling upon my expert Adobe Photoshop skills to ensure a consistent, user friendly interface for the charity's members to use.

I covered various sports for the vastly read Western People sports section. Travelled to games; compiled reports, before filing them in time for publication on Monday evening. My publications were read by tens of thousands in the biggest selling newspaper in the North West.

2008 - 2010

Sports Journalist
Sports Direct News.

I reported on various sports for an English start-up website. My duties involved the composition of feature writing, interviewing Premier League footballers. Such a role was carried out from home, using a custom content management system (CMS) to file stories under a stringent timescale.

2013 - 2014

Freelance Columnist
PaddyPower, Betfair, Boylesport, talkSPORT.

As one of the most respected Newcastle United bloggers, large brand names such as PaddyPower and Betfair recruit me to write a feature column for their respective blogs. My pieces are well researched, and envoke interesting discussion amongst fans. I have also been asked to give my thoughts on NUFC live on talkSPORT, one the biggest sports radio channels in the UK.

Assigned as a Final Year Project in my BA Hons degree, paired with another class student, we strived to create a working social network dedicated for students to showcase their credentials to potential employers. Throughout the course of the project we delved into JavaScript and proactively engaged with modern technologies such as Node.js and MySQL to create our solution. We deployed the app on AppFog, via the command line.

To mark the world's biggest football event, I set myself the challenge of creating an engaging and fully responsive website that could cater for followers of the 2014 World Cup. Using WordPress and a cloud host, World Cup today raked in thousands of visits, with Search Engines proving a major source as I tried out various SEO techniques which resulted in the site ranking very high for competitive search terms.

A fully-functioning , asesthetically pleasing showcase for an established musician. As a musician myself I knew what the true requirements for such a website would be - including its layout, the styling of images, and indeed a focus on what the individual offers, for eg. his CD. I also deployed some SEO techniques which ensured that the website ranked #1 for not only his name, but on the first page for a various competitive terms such as 'changing time'.
